Bubble of raw emotion

Today you stood on a thistle. You yelped, crawled over to me and clung on to me for dare life. Your little hands grasped onto my cheeks trying to get closer and closer to me. It wasn’t possible but you continued to try. Your face touched mine and I could feel the tears running down between our cheeks. They fell from your long wet lashes which were kissing my nose. I told you it was ok and there we sat for a long while, waiting for the stress to leave your little body.

An empty wardrobe

It happens each time that we are due to go out. Mark’s shirts are ironed, Lottie’s dressed and fed, the car is packed. I am excited to be going out as a family for the first time in a long time. I ask Mark to look after Lottie while I get myself ready in the last 5 minutes spare. It’s amazing how efficient you become.

I let us down today

Dad was at work.  It was just me and you.

Things were going well initially.  You watched and played as I exercised, we filled up the pool and you ate snacks, lot of snacks. I cleaned a bit but I couldn’t really be bothered. You played outside again for a while as I hung out some washing.  The sun was out and the birds were chirping.  You were smiling from ear to ear as you picked blades of grass and watched them blow away in the wind.
