The beauty of time

Between these four walls there is not much change right now. Each day is long and each night cannot come quickly enough. We not in a rush to be anywhere or to do anything, and the scenery is much the same. Well, that’s how it feels right now.⠀ ⠀

I have more time to notice things, like the cobwebs on the ceiling, the dust on the shelves and the stains on the carpet. I didn’t used to notice these things but now I do. These are the things I wish I didn’t have time to notice before. They can be overwhelming in the current phase.⠀ ⠀

While time is not always our friend, sometimes it can be our saviour. It has also allowed me to notice the things I am grateful for. The things that can sometimes be easily forgotten in the normal fast paced life. The things that are the most important, pandemic or not.⠀ ⠀

It’s the simple things like the joy you find through our constant presence, the contentment you find through simply being at home and the obvious gratitude you have for us spending all of our time with⠀ you.⠀ ⠀

In your eyes:⠀
The days are not long enough;⠀
The nights come too quickly;⠀
You want things to go slowly;⠀
You don’t want to do anything but be with us in our bubble; and ⠀
Our home is the only landscape you⠀ wish to see.⠀ ⠀

Amidst all of the stress, pressure and overwhelm, your simplistic attitude towards life is the sweetest daily reminder I need. ⠀ ⠀

Although things are changing around us, and we are unsure of where we are headed, we are to each other the constant in the unknown, the light in the dark, the flower in the weeds and the sunshine in the storm.⠀ ⠀

The cobwebs, the dust and the stains that remain untouched may be a constant reminder of what is yet to be done, but they are not the constant that evolves with us, as we are to each other.⠀ ⠀ That’s all that matters right now and time has allowed me to remember.
