Little

Little eyes longing for me,⠀

When she’s meant to be asleep. ⠀

Little toes peeping under curtains,⠀

When we play hide and seek.⠀

Little ears burning hot,⠀

When there’s mention of Peppa Pig.⠀

Little arms waving everywhere, ⠀

When she hears a catchy jig. ⠀

Little fingers meddling tirelessly, ⠀

When mixing what I’m yet to bake.⠀

Little socks soaked thoroughly,⠀

When I’m religiously running late. ⠀

Little tears streaming like rivers, ⠀

When she wants me to stay. ⠀

Little grizzles sending signals,⠀

When she doesn’t get her way. ⠀

Little hands tapping empty spaces, ⠀

When she wants me by her side.⠀

Little fingernails digging into me,⠀

When she’s scared but cannot hide. ⠀

Little giggles filling our home, ⠀

When I knock my shin again.⠀

Little smiles shining brightly,⠀

When my eyes feel like rain. ⠀

Little by little she’ll edge away,⠀

When I’m still catching up.⠀

Little by little she’ll need me less, ⠀

When I’ll still want to be stuck. ⠀

Little things are everything right now,⠀

When time is moving so fast.⠀

Little will not exist forever, ⠀

When every first has a last. ⠀
