Motherhood reminders

Motherhood reminders from me to you:

You are allowed to hide in the toilet when your other half gets home, and spend way too long on your phone.

You are allowed to sit in your car and listen to the end of your podcast before you go back inside to enjoy the silence for that little bit longer.

You are allowed to buy things for yourself because you want them, not because you need them.

You are allowed to hide your favourite treats from your family to be guaranteed the taste of something you deserve.

You are allowed to drive your children around in the car for absolutely no other reason than needing a break from being needed for a while.

You are allowed to stay up too late watching Netflix knowing that you will be even more tired the next day, and then complain about being tired the next day.

You are allowed to let your children watch as much screen time as you need them to, so that you can do what you need do to.

You are allowed to skip pages of books, bath-time routines and vegetables on the side of the plate some nights.

You are allowed to say yes to the easier options all day.

You are allowed to say no at any time during the day.

You are allowed to do what you want, where you want, however you want.

Because the when you want hardly comes these days.

Because this is your motherhood.

Because you (and only you) get to make the rules.
