Hey Mama

Hey Mama,

Just in case no one asked you today,

How are you doing? How are you feeling? How are you actually?

How are you coping? Are you coping?

How have you been sleeping? Have you managed a shower? What else do you need?

What was the highlight of your day? What really pissed you off?

What?

How?

Who?

It’s not nothing, can you tell me more? I want to hear all about it.

What was the lowest part of the day? Do you want to talk about it? Do you not want to talk about it? We’ve all been there so don’t be so hard on yourself, ok?

And mama, just in case no one has told you today,

You and all you do is seen.

The cleaning, the cooking, the washing. The reading, the bathing, the playing. The organising, the planning, the sorting. The humoring, the consoling, the multitasking.

And don’t worry, everything else isn’t forgotten. There’s too much to list. The load is heavy. Yet somehow you manage it. You are incredible. Thank you so much.

But it’s ok if you are not managing it. Surviving is thriving in this season. Remember that ok?

And you are doing such a good job. You are a great mom. They are so lucky to have you.

And mama, just in case you haven’t told yourself today,

You look great as you are, however you are. With makeup or without makeup, filter or no filter, tucked or untucked.

No one cares about the mess in your home as much as you do. But if you want to clean it, clean it. You do you. Always do you. They want you, not someone else.

You are everything to them. You are the glue, the mortar, the heart, of both your home and of your family. You may come unstuck but they won’t.

Follow your gut, your instinct, your dreams. You can still have dreams you know. Dream big. You can do big things. Today, one day, when you’re ready.

And mama, just in case you need reminding,

Don’t forget to make time for you, to spend money on you, and to be true to you.

Those things matter. You matter.

I hope you can see that.
