The winning recipe

I hope she never loses her zest for life. That she continues to jump in muddy puddles when she no longer watches Peppa Pig, and runs with her arms above her head and her joy above her pride when she’s probably “old enough to know better”.

I hope she will know that she’s never too old, or too proud, or too big.

I hope she never stops enjoying the small things when she understands the big. That she will continue to find contentment in the sound of the rain on the roof, the way the leaves blow in the wind, and the colour the sky turns before and after a storm.

I hope she will know to try and see the beauty in the simple when everything can seem so complex.

I hope her unconditional and courageous love never fades. That she will know how much she deserves. That she is brave enough to find it and brave enough to keep it. But only if it deserves to be kept. That she continues to pour her heart into others that fill her own without fear that it may be broken.

I hope she will know that life’s too short not to take the risk, and too long not to be happy.

I hope she never loses her haste to forgive, and that she knows forgiveness of herself is perhaps the most important. That she will know the power of moving forward rather than moving nowhere. That she will see that pride can always take the backseat without effecting her journey.

I hope she will know to always try to see the good, in others and herself. Because it is always there, somewhere.

I hope that she never stops letting her tears fall easily. Or her smiles come naturally. Or her objection speak freely. That her feelings continue to be expressed as she feels them and her views continue to be known as she forms them.

I hope she will know that her strength is in being both strong and weak, and feeling the weak is what can make her the strongest.

I hope that as time passes and the world around her gets smaller, she continues to live, laugh and love large, like she is now.

Freely and with conviction.

Honestly and carefree.

Because that is the winning recipe.

And she deserves to win.

I hope.
