They were right
They were right about you.
You go fast, and slow.
The days blur into one.
The nights feel endless.
Then one day all I can think about is how these years have gone “too fast”, and what I would give to slow down what we have left.
⠀
They were right about you.
You are messy, and glorious.
Nothing is clean or finished.
It’s hard to see past it some days.
Yet everything left out to be tripped over, fought over, or cleaned over is covered in so much love.
⠀
They were right about you.
You are hard, and beautiful.
The load can be heavy.
The exhaustion a beast like no other.
But forever lightening the load and carrying me through weakness are moments that take my breath away.
⠀
They were right about you.
You are consuming, and grounding.
It’s easy to get lost down your streets.
To wander in search of the old me.
Yet I have found my strength, my purpose, and my sense of self more in this season of life than any other.
⠀
They were right about you.
You take hold, and make it hard to let go.
My heart is immersed in all of you.
My mind running to keep up.
And I’m so heavily invested in you now that I have no idea what my life will look like when “Mama” becomes “Mom”.
Motherhood,
They were right about you.
You are everything.
And thank you.
Because if it wasn’t for you,
I wouldn’t have my everythings.
