Sorry, not sorry

“Sorry”.

“Sorry I’m running late”.

“Sorry I’ve got to leave early”.

“Sorry I couldn’t make it”.

“I’m so sorry”.

“Sorry I didn’t text back”.

“Sorry I’m replying in the middle of the night”.

“Sorry I missed your call”.

“I’m so very sorry”.

“Sorry my house is a mess”.

“Sorry I didn’t do any baking”.

“Sorry I look like a fright”.

“I’m so sorry”.

“Sorry. It’s been a morning”.

“Sorry. It’s been a long day”.

“Sorry. We’ve had a rough night”.

“Sorry”.

“Sorry”.

“Sorry”.

How about “sorry, I’m not sorry”?

Because I am a mother.

I have a lot going on right now.

And I will always show up for my children first.⠀

How about “sorry, I’m really not sorry”?

Because yes my life looks different to what it used to.

And I have good reason for that.

I have children now.

How about “sorry, but I shouldn’t be sorry”?

Because I’m doing my best.

And that never requires an apology.

Just grace.
