Today and tomorrow
Yesterday I was holding a young baby.
Small hands and smaller feet.
Tiny tears and tiny nappies.
Today I’m holding a “big girl”.
Kindy bags and mismatched outfits.
Big emotions and wanted independence.
Yesterday I was a new mother.
New body and a new purpose.
Bigger nappies and bigger tears.
Today I’m a seasoned mother.
Old habits and older clothes.
Heavy load and a heavier heart.
Yesterday felt like today.
Today feels like yesterday.
The days go too fast.
Let me hold onto yesterday, today and tomorrow.
Let me hold on tight,
Before I need to loosen my grip and let go.
